Style: The Spirit of India is renowned in South Melbourne for its north Indian tandoori fare. The decor is inoffensive and simple, the service relaxed and unobtrusive. The food, however, is an intricate blend of taste sensations that will have you coming back for more. On Thursdays choose the lunchtime special for optimum value, where $14.95 gets you two courses inclusive of naan, rice, mint sauce and pappadums. For the same price on a Friday lunch you can get your fill at the authentic Indian buffet.
Ambience: A bit too empty on the night, so it was quiet but lacked atmosphere.
Price: $23 (avg. incl. some drinks and deserts). On Thursdays choose the lunchtime special for optimum value, where $14.95 gets you two courses inclusive of naan, rice, mint sauce and pappadums. For the same price on a Friday lunch you can get your fill at the authentic Indian buffet.
Details: Tram #112, about 1 block up from the Aquatic Centre at Albert Park.
Special Comments: Service was not great, but the food more than made up for it. And it is good value. The Beef Madras was good (but not hot).

The Madras was watery. Nasty business.
Possibly the best so far. May be worth a re-visit later to see if they maintain the standard or go the 'Roti Boti' route and rest on their laurels.
I enjoyed the meals and dessert, especially [as] it was [a] very nice gesture of Chris [to] SHARE the dessert. It was very reasonable price on the whole.
Service was lacking, Bahji's a bit burnt but madras mild by flavoursome.
You've hit the ball out the park! Inrcedlibe!
