Koh Samui    [cast your vote]

Style: Koh Samui restaurant, widely acknowledged for its exquisite Thai food, uses experienced chefs drawn from the best Thai hotels and restaurants, to offer a large menu with specialty dishes rarely found elsewhere in Australia. In fact, it is often said that the dishes are better than those found in Thailand simply because the fresh ingredients found here are of such high quality and yet, traditional methods and recipes are retained. In fine weather the courtyard provides an appealing outdoor extension to the main restaurant, and on Sundays during summer, a special BBQ menu is served outside in traditional Thai style. You can even pop-in to enjoy coffee and dessert between 3-6pm during summer - the courtyard is the perfect setting for an afternoon of fine food and leisure.
Ambience: Koh Samui provides an intimate atmosphere for a small booking or can easily cater for a large party of 50 or more. It also offers an executive lunch service which provides a fast and efficient meal without compromising quality or atmosphere. If you enjoy fine food, exceptional service and pleasant surroundings, whether it be a business meeting or a special celebration, try Koh Samui Thai restaurant - you will not be disappointed.

Lingering thoughts: expensive. I think the duck dish was about $25 on its own. Most dishes were fine but nothing was that outstanding that I would definitely have to go back and order it again.

On the plus side the tables were not crammed in like they are in some other restaurants and food-wise the roti was worth a mention. They also allowed us to bring in our own birthday cup cakes, so that was good of them :-)

Disappointingly small menu choice, and asking to remove the shrimp for a vegetarian meal prompted the chef to add chicken as a substitute.
Wouldn't go back.

Pretty average. The food was nice, but not plentiful. The dishes, while well prepared were really individual meals in themselves, and not designed for sharing as there was not much of the meat and sauce in each dish. Service was a little mediocre (no follow up drinks orders were taken) and some of the dishes were rather expensive. The final bill worked out at $30 per person, which is one of the most expensive nights we've done.
Would probably rate better (maybe 3.5) if it was 2 people dining out ordering their own meals as the food was reasonably tasty, it just didn't work so well as a mass venue.
Also, all Thai restaurants I go to these days get compared to Thai Saffron on Church Street Brighton, and none of them live up to it.

Great location, appealing venue but the wait staff were not as attentive as they could have been. And, while the food was good I don't think it was worth $30 a head.

Good food slightly pricey. the fresh spicy blends of chilli and corriander come through. Pity they stuffed up the veg pad thai and put chicken in.
