Style: Thai. They say that: "Paladarr is a Cuban word which means a small restaurant in a private home. This was the name of the previous restaurant on this site. When Chaloem and I purchased the restaurant, we discovered to our amazement that Paladarr is also an ancient Thai word which means 'A circle of Friends'. We named our first restaurant in the tiny town of Trentham in the Macedon Ranges "Thai Issan", after the mystical North-East region of Thailand where Chaloem was born. So now we are Paladarr Thai Issan!! (If it ain't broke, why fix it?) Chaloem and I look forward to seeing you at Paladarr.
Ambience: Very nice, apparently. "Paladarr's decor is thoroughly modern, with dark furnishings, a warm fireplace and quality tableware."
Price: This is not the cheapest restaurant, but quality is supposed to be very high. ( menu )
Details: Located on the corner of Yarralea Street.
Special Comments: They say that they are "Melbourne's only 5-star Thai restaurant" and winner of Victoria's Best Thai Restaurant 2006, 2007 and 2008. They are also in The Age Good Food Guide 2009 (awarded a "Chef's Hat") and have won a number of other awards, since opening in 2005. Some mixed reviews, see the link below. Oh, and they offer cooking classes too!
