Indian Palace    [cast your vote]

131 Church Street, Brighton
Visited: 2007-03-04

Style: Indian. The review I read said: "Owner Sarita and her staff go out of their way to make you feel like royalty with modern Inidan cuisine that is delicate and rich, without to much chilli."
Ambience: Airy; the evening we were there they had the full shopfront open.
Price: Mains $20, naan bread $2.50. Not the cheapest, but this is on Brighton's main strip.
Details: Just 50 metres from Middle Brighton train station, right opposite the Half Moon bar. Also only a couple of doors away from Thai Saffron.
Special Comments: Good food and good service.

I am feeling stuffed and it is two hours since we ate there. The meats were all very tender and the sauces creamy and rich. None of the curries were hot, but there again only mild and medium ones were ordered.

Service very good, possibly even a touch too much attention! Cold water in glasses already on the table when we sat down was a cool touch. Good naans.

Well-apportioned venue in a great location. I couldn’t fault the food and there was plenty of it.

As a goalkeeper curries are very important to me. I particularly like tasty and varied curries and a good vindaloo always manages to save the day.

The curries here were very aromatic and scored goals on a number of fronts. Yet they were somewhat 'samey' and on ocassion required a second shot from a rebound.

Whilst being rich is good for teams such as Chelsea, I find that curries need to be a bit more spicy if championship contention is to be maintained. Service was excellent (especially from the defence) but the Indian palace could do with spicing up the attack somewhat.
